Year 5 English Homework
Look at the long column of soldiers marching to the front lines. Imagine what they would be talking about to each other as they marched into danger. What would they be wondering about? How would they encourage each other. Write a short passage showing the dialogue between two of the soldiers. You can give them each a name and try to use correct speech punctuation. Try to keep the dialogue flowing naturally and add extra descriptions for more challenge. Example:
“Wow those artillery guns are even louder up close,” said Thomas as he covered his ears.
Brian looked over as exhausted-looking men reloaded an enormous cannon. “I bet the explosion on the other side is even louder,” he replied.
