Year 4 Maths Homework
Week 3
Area and Perimeter
This week, we will be looking at area and perimeter.
Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a 2D shape. We calculate this by adding up the total length of each of the sides and we measure it in cm (but could also use mm or m).
Area is the space within the perimeter of a 2D shape. We calculate this is by multiplying the length of the shape by its width and measure it in (centimetres squared). We can also measure in metres and millimetres squared, however, which look like and .
If you do not have a printer at home, you can draw out the shapes suggested for yourself using a ruler and pencil. The answers for each sheet should also be found in each of the documents we’ve sent.
Inside the folder for each day, you should also find a PowerPoint presentation to give you a few hints, tips and examples, which should prepare you for the activity you need to complete.
Good luck!
