Year 3 English Home Learning

Week 8

Writing

Above is the inspiration for your writing this week.  As before, we would like you to focus on the ‘Sick Sentences’ section of the learning, however feel free to have a go at all of the activities as well.

Sick sentences!

These sentences are ‘sick’ and need your help to get better. Can you help?

Elsa stood in the room. It was a big room, with rows of books and a nice floor. The ceiling was very high and it was very light.

Reading

Below is a link to a reading lesson on poems by Allan Ahlberg.  At the bottom of the page are three different activities you could have a go at.

As well as this reading lesson, make sure you are reading as much as possible.

You can share all of your learning on OneNote, ClassDojo or as an email.  We would love to hear which books you are reading at home as well.

Homophones

This week, we are focusing on the use of a common set of homophones, their, they’re and there.  These are often used in writing so it is important to know the difference between the three words.  The link to the lesson is below.

Handwriting

As well as practising the above spelling, we would also like you to continue to practise your handwriting.  Below are a list of spellings focusing on the –ly suffix to turn words into adverbs.

You could extend your learning by trying to use these words within sentences.

You can share all of your learning on OneNote, ClassDojo or as an email.
